The New York Times

Sooooo.... THIS happened today.

I was in the fashion and style section of the New York Times. Feels crazy to even write that! Wow.

I am living my dream. I feel so lucky and blessed. Thanks for all the support, friends.

PS- The dress I'm wearing WAS for sale in my shop (the photo is from a Grandma June photoshoot!), but I just took the listing down today. I think I should hang on to it a little longer... after all, it fits me perfectly and it'll be a nice souvenir. ♥

A Real Doozy of a Piece

Damn, I hate it when this happens. I have one of the most amazing vintage pieces (probably in my top 10 most amazing pieces I've ever come across - I'll make a top 10 list of my favorites in the next post!), and I just don't know if I can part with it.

Tell me what I should do!

Thankful for Football.

If you know me at all, you'll know that Thanksgiving has never been a big deal holiday for me. I feel like it's turned into being all about the turkey and the Black Friday hype. I've been a vegetarian since 1999, and would maybe rather get the plague (ok, not really, but definitely the flu!) than stand outside a store with a bunch of anxious people waiting for a deal on a flatscreen tv.

BUT. Just when you're about to pinpoint me as the Thanksgiving Day Scrooge (really, I kinda am, you should have seen me cursing at the television this morning - I was so psyched to look at the floats at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, and all they were showing were people doing Broadway musical performances! I don't care about musicals, sorry!), I can at least get on board and excited about the football part of the holiday. I am a HUGE football fan. My dad raised me going to local high school football games, and our Sundays every fall and winter were always spent watching NFL games. Anytime I get the chance, I'll go watch the local high school kids play, and today, Thanksgiving, my best friend and I went and saw Portland High School vs. Deering High School, longtime rivals. This is a special Thanksgiving game (that doesn't actually mean anything), but it's been a tradition for 100 years

warmin' up!

The weather was freezing, so we bundled up. I brought two blankets just like I always do - one to sit on and one to cuddle up in. We also got hot cocoa, which is another part of the tradition, of course! There was still ice on the bleachers from the mini storm the day before, and we saw multiple people with wet butts.

My best friend Panda and me

Despite the cold, it was a beautiful day for a football game.

I was really alarmed at how many Ugg boots I saw. I'm never around teenagers (especially that many at one time!) and I can't believe that they are still SO in style with that generation. I had no idea there were so many different options, either! Sparkly red, sparkly gold, eggplant, slate blue, maroon, black, gray, dark brown, light brown, tan, quilted. I really wish our culture could get over these horrible things already. Panda and I talked about it a bunch, and she did say in their defense that they're like sticking your feet into a bunch of pillows, but still! Let's figure something else out that can be equally as comfortable and not so terribly expensive and truly hideous!

L.L. Bean boots get us girls through many Maine winters!

We stayed until the end of the 3rd quarter, and then bailed because it was a blowout. The Portland boys were half the size of the Deering kids - they didn't stand a chance!

We tried to get a photo of us with the loud cheering fans behind us, and I love this photo. Foolish!

Check out that sweet cane! Hahaha!

I dropped Panda off at her house, went home, ran seven and half miles, and then made myself a poor man's Thanksgiving dinner.

Special shout out to my english muffin taking the place of a biscuit! Hahaha!

Not a bad holiday at all.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

If you're in the Portland area (Maine, that is), you have to check out Moody Lords. It's the place to go for unique and rare vinyl, and now vintage clothing! Grandma June is happy to supply a rack of ladies vintage clothing (all different sizes!) over there, so stop by! 578 Congress Street, upstairs. Support local!

Crazy News!

I know I have been horrible at updating the shop/website lately, but it's because there are some big and exciting things on the horizon! I am moving to New York City for the summer! It's a quick 45 minute plane ride to Maine though, so I will not be too far from home! I will be putting my shop on vacation mode for the month of July (and possibly August). I am hoping to find a spot to hold my vintage goods in the big apple, and then I'll be able to get the shop going again by the beginning of August. Thanks for all of the support, friends! If you have any super awesome friends in NYC and you want to introduce them to me, don't hesitate to give them my email!

Wuttup Friends!

INTERNET FRIENDS! I am so sorry for the lack of posts lately, I have been VERY busy doing this:

This TIGER DRESS from H&M that I bought years ago is still one of my favorites for summer.

and this:

My high-waisted bikini. This silhouette will always make you look like a bombshell pin-up star, ladies! My super push-up bra bikini top really helps, too.

Seriously though, I was gone all last week doing the most exciting thing of my life regarding fashion/advertising. I am not allowed to talk about it openly just yet, but I can tell you that I was flown down to Austin, Texas to model in a national advertising campaign for a VERY famous company. I'm not positive as to where the ads will be, but I believe you might be able to find them in the New York Times and People Magazine in the upcoming weeks. (More info as soon as I'm given the go-ahead to talk about it!)

Since I've been back home, I've pretty much worn some variation of the same outfit everyday. I am finding my SPRING STAPLES and COLORS. Right now it's pale pink, cream, and blue jeans as a color scheme, and I've been wearing the same shoes, scarf, jacket, and bag daily. Here's some photos from the last couple of days:

This was my day. And I was productive. THE BEST!

Look for another blog post WICKED SOON of some shop previews - I have some really incredible stuff that I'm excited to list including a 2 COOL 4 SCHOOL t-shirt. (I mean, right???)

A Trip to Beans/A Daily Outfit

You've probably heard of L.L. Bean, it's a Maine staple. They sell clothes, hunting/fishing stuff and lots of other shit to people all over the world. And not only do they offer free shipping, but you can return anything (for any reason) for store credit, no matter what decade you bought it in - even if you don't have the receipt! It's wicked awesome, and I've always loved going to their main store located in Freeport, Maine. (It's open 24 hours which is ESPECIALLY awesome if you're an under-aged Mainer looking for something to do late at night!)

The zipper broke on my boyfriend's official L.L. Bean backpack, so we took a little roadtrip up theyah (yes-huh, bub!) to exchange it for a new one.

Since they're famous for their boots, they decided to build a HUGE one right outside their main entrance.

The shiny, boring section - they do have some cute clothes, just not in this section.

Rushing over to the ridiculous huge aquarium - the fish are AWESOME!

They have this little bubble you can sit in, and it feels like you're in the aquarium with the fish!

It looks funny from the outside of the aquarium!

Tyler!

This is what it looks like from inside the bubble, no kidding!

Over in the camping section, I fell in love with this oversized tent. Camping, luxury style.

In the women's clothing section, I found the perfect floppy summer hat, but I had a hard time choosing between colors.

I think I liked the dark one better, but probably just 'cause it matched the outfit I had on.

What a funny expression on the bear, huh? Luckily there's not TOO much taxidermy there. Scary!

They have a pond IN the store! Wicked!

My favorite part, probably. All the magazine covers they've had throughout the years. Most of them are INCREDIBLE.
